Dreams Don't Have an Expiration Date!

Dreams Don't Have an Expiration Date!

So, when a 17 year old is finishing up their senior year in high school, all the world is excited about their future and the opportunities that are before them. I am agreement that this is an exciting time. My question to you is, why does it stop there? Where is the enthusiasm for the 27 year old, the 37 year old or the 97 year old?

I am profoundly puzzled by this dark specter of hopelessness. We live in a society where people give up on their dreams for "practicality" and "playing it safe"? Dreams and ambitions for a wonderful life should never have an expiration date?

The National Center for Educational Statistics did a study:

Percentage of full-time undergraduate enrollment in degree-granting post-secondary institutions, by institutional level and control and student age: Fall 2015.

This study shows that:

89 percent of students are under 25 years old

7 percent are 25-34 years old

3 percent are 35 years and older.

OK, you might say that most of the older people are going to school part-time. Let me dispel that myth. Only 19 percent of students are studying part-time who are 35 years or older, according to the same study.

I choose not to pay any mind to the specter of practicality and playing it safe. I say no to such an excuse and reach for my dreams with even more vigor and verve than when I was 17 years old! I think you should too? What is it that you would like to accomplish with the time that you still have here on Earth? Share your heart with those who will fan the flames of your dreams, that music still inside you. Make decisions as those who are 17, graduating from high school and looking to the future with wide-eyed optimism.

Are you 27, 37, 47, 57, 67, 77, 87, 97, 107? You are alive and where there is life there is hope. When you decide on your dream, treat it as a baby, your very own baby. Feed that baby every day and share those dreams. Maybe throw a party and help others also find their baby too.
